Immigration the legal way?

Okay, summer is winding down, and I'm going to start writing more again (thanks for the cheers, faithful 3.5 readers!). In fact, I want to write some thoughts about last weekend's prayer rally at Reliant Stadium in Houston, but I don't have the time at the moment.

What I did want to do is give you a link to a short but well-written piece about immigration, and why those in the country without documentation today don't hop in the lines to legal immigration. Let me know what you think.

Here's the link...

Arnie, thanks for sharing this article. I didn't agree with some of the language in the beginning, but I do agree with his overall point. The US does send mix-signals by the type of jobs that it needs workers for (to the point that we depend on those we call illegal or undocumented). There's a big disconnect in the law and the reality. That's because laws are legislated by a system of politicians that live on sound bites and four year cycles. Maybe if the Dept. of Labor would talk to ICE! Won't happen. I was reading recently that the number of illegal crossing has been dropping dramatically and steadily ...the reason? In the last few years the economy in Mexico us booming! The number of young people enrolling in college (in MX) has doubled and keeps growing. Maybe is that drug money that the cartels now has to keep in Mexican banks! When this happen in Colombia the gov. took their money! We'll see. Good article. Thanks!
